After Scott Proctor surrendered Barry Bonds' 749th career home run, Rivera was summoned with one out in the eighth and delivered. Mo only gave up a broken bat single in 1 2/3 innings to earn his 9th save of the season and 422nd of his career.
Rivera came on with a runner on first and faced Frandsen who he retired with a fly ball to right. Omar Vizquel then singled and Ryan Klesko pinch hit and grounded to short to end the inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Dave Roberts flew out to left for the first out. Randy Winn bounced to third for the second and Ray Durham hit a hump back liner to short to end the game. Rivera's ERA now stands at 4.23.
