Joba Chamberlain had arguably the best start of his career on Wednesday night vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. He left after eight innings with a 6-0 lead and gave way to Brian Bruney.
Bruney gave up a triple to Carl Crawford and a home run to Evan Longoria to push the score to 6-2. He was able to get Ben Zobrist out on a pop out but then fell behind Carlos Pena before he doubled to right center. One more baserunner would have made a save situation but Girardi didn't want to push it and called for Mo.
More struck out Pat Burrell on three pitches but then walked Gabe Gross on four pitches. Michele Hernandez battled but eventually struck out on an outside cutter to end the game.
This appearance for Rivera lowered his ERA to 2.08 on the season.
