07/17: Curt Schilling Suggests That Rolaids Relief Man Award Be Renamed the Mariano Rivera Award

Posted by: Patrick
Curt Schilling shared a compelling idea on Twitter last night, suggesting that the Rolaids Relief Man Award should be renamed to the Mariano Rivera Award following this season.

The award is based on statistics and the amount of saves, wins, losses, blown saves and "tough" saves (a save collected when the tying run is already on base when the pitcher enters) determine the winner, using a point based system.

Rivera has won the award 5 times, tied for the all-time record with Dan Quisenberry. He last won it in 2009, when he shared honors with Joe Nathan.
